Paralegal – Estate Planning
The candidate will draft correspondence and pleadings as directed by attorneys. Under the direction of supervising attorney, prepare draft estate planning documents and correspondence. Prepare drafts of probate and guardianship/conservatorship pleadings, memoranda, affidavits, legal briefs, motions, discovery notices, subpoenas, contracts, and other documents. Provide client support. Conduct legal research. Manage the attorney’s schedule. Other duties and tasks of a substantive legal nature as assigned. Legal skills, including research and legal writing. Familiarity with legal terminology, forms, procedures, and basic principles of law, especially those associated with the area of Estate Planning. Should preferably have 3+ years of experience. Must have a strong interest in and desire to learn all aspects of Estate Planning, Elder Law, and the associated documents. Document drafting skills, attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills, and proficiency in Word are also required. Should have the ability to use computer and knowledge of various software packages: MS Word; MS Excel; MS Access; NetDocuments; legal billing program (ProLaw®); posting time records; e-mail; electronic calendaring; WestLaw® research, etc. estate planning-specific software packages such as CLEPRO. Strong proofreading, organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.
