Job Overview: A law firm based in Washington, ., seeks a dynamic and motivated Patent Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will be crucial in meeting with inventors, drafting patent applications, prosecuting applications before the USPTO, and collaborating with clients and firm attorneys to develop effective claim strategies. The attorney will manage a diverse docket of cases and contribute to the firm's success through diligent and proactive legal representation.

Duties:

  • Meet with inventors and draft patent applications for filing with the USPTO.
  • Prosecute patent applications before the USPTO, including conducting interviews with Examiners.
  • Collaborate with clients and firm attorneys to develop and refine claim strategies.
  • Proactively manage a docket of cases, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
  • Draft noninfringement and invalidity opinions.
  • Conduct due diligence investigations and perform freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses under the supervision of firm partners.

Requirements:

  • Backgrounds of particular interest: electrical engineering, computer/software, mechanical engineering, chemistry/biochemistry, biology, physics, IPR/litigation experience.
  • Positive attitude toward client service.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and professional service skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with a commitment to success and personal and professional growth.
  • Enjoy being involved in all aspects of a vibrant law firm team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, . (or eligibility for admission).

Certifications:
