The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience and excellent academic credentials. Responsibilities The Tax Controversy Associate will be responsible for the following: Drafting internal legal memoranda and briefs for filing with federal courts and agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service Interacting directly with agents and attorneys of the Department of Justice, IRS, other federal agencies, state taxing agencies, and state regulatory bodies Developing litigation skills through practice in federal district courts, the Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court Contributing to a broad range of tax matters, including complex tax planning Representing public and private companies in tax controversy matters Performing general research and writing Position Requirements 1-5 years of legal experience is required Licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama and in good standing with the Alabama State Bar (or eligible to become licensed in Alabama) Excellent written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong analytical skills Ability to prioritize, delegate, and communicate progress on assignments Compensation Dentons Sirote offers a competitive salary and benefits package to our Tax Controversy Associates.
