Overview:
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a global law firm with offices in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a highly qualified Technical Specialist to join their Intellectual Property Practice Group. This role will be based in one of their strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government, including Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:
• Perform research, sequence management, and searching
• Investigate inventorship issues
• Manage intake of invention disclosures and review for patentability, novelty, and non-obviousness
• Evaluate qualification and applicability of prior art
• Draft new patent applications and convert provisional applications into utility applications
• Prepare replies to US and foreign office actions
• Assist attorneys with prosecution and manage e-File filings
• Conduct interviews with USPTO examiners and assist with appeals to PTAB
• Meet with clients to discuss inventions and assess potential for commercial patent claims
• Prepare clearance analyses

Education and Experience:
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a biological field such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Cell Biology
• At least two (2) years of related experience in the field of life sciences
• Excellent writing and research abilities, as well as strong communication and organizational skills

Compensation and Benefits:
• Base salary range will be determined during the interview process and may vary based on prior experience, expertise, and market factors
• Total compensation package includes eligibility for annual discretionary bonus and enrollment in 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans, as well as health savings and flexible spending accounts
• Other benefits include Employee Assistance Program, Work/Life Services, HealthAdvocate, Bright Horizons Back-Up Child Care, and WageWorks Commuter Benefits
