Law Firm Seeking Entry-Level Paralegal for International Trade Department in Washington DC

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
Job Title: Entry-Level Paralegal (International Trade)
Experience: Bachelor's degree required (minimum GPA of for candidates with no prior paralegal experience)

Anticipated Start Date: June 2024

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

- Assisting attorneys and practice support staff with client projects, including document organization and management, legal and factual research, and cite-checking of legal documents
- Meeting minimum annual hours expectation of 1700 chargeable hours
- Assembling and finalizing documents for filing with courts and agencies, including cite-checking and generating tables of authorities
- Maintaining knowledge of cite-checking and filing requirements in relevant jurisdictions
- Adhering to administrative protective order (APO) requirements and internal protocols for document handling
- Working effectively with a team of attorneys and staff to achieve client goals
- Preparing materials for client meetings, hearings, and trials

Work Environment:

- Professional office environment with quiet to moderate noise levels
- Standard office equipment used, such as computers, phones, and filing cabinets
- Fast-paced work environment requiring multitasking and prioritization of deadlines

Physical Demands:

- Primarily sedentary position, but may require occasional lifting, bending, and standing
- May need to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds

- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines
- Efficient time management and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, particularly related to APO/JPO provisions

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum GPA of for candidates with no prior paralegal experience
- Paralegal certificate and/or fluency in a language other than English is a plus
- Major and/or advanced studies in International Relations, International Studies, Economics, or Business preferred
