Law firm Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC is looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their Insurance Coverage team in the Kansas City office. The ideal candidate must be professional in demeanor, detail-oriented, proactive, and a team-player. They must have strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, work efficiently under pressure, and quickly learn and integrate new technical skills and knowledge. At least five years of litigation experience is required, with insurance coverage experience preferred. All candidates must understand the importance of upholding client confidentiality.

Responsibilities
The Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for managing complex cases throughout the litigation process, assisting with fact and witness investigations, propounding and responding to discovery, reviewing and summarizing documents, researching jurors, preparing for depositions, court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations, and attending trials. They must also be able to communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with clients, attorneys, and other professional staff, as well as efficiently and effectively learn and utilize new and existing firm technology.

• Assisting with propounding and responding to discovery, including document production
• Reviewing and summarizing medical records, medical bills, police records, deposition transcripts, and other documents and client files
• Reviewing and analyzing large files to prepare key events, correspondence, and other chronologies to assist with case assessment
• Assisting in juror research
• Assisting with deposition, court hearing, mediation, and arbitration preparation
• Trial preparation and attendance
• Communicating effectively, courteously, and professionally with clients, attorneys, and professional staff
• Efficiently and effectively learning and utilizing new and existing firm technology
