Job Title: Practice Support Team Specialist (Education Legal Assistant)

Experience Information:

- 3-5 years of legal support experience with a heavy focus on Education law is required for this position.
- Previous transcription experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a law firm or legal department is preferred.

Position Summary:

The Practice Support Team Specialist (Education Legal Assistant) at Husch Blackwell LLP is responsible for providing administrative support to assigned attorneys within our Education Practice Group. This position may be filled in any of our office locations. The main responsibilities include coordinating workflow, preparing legal documents, scheduling, accounting administrative functions, new client/matter intake, and providing general administrative support. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with a 2-year degree preferred. They should also have a minimum typing speed of 60 wpm and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinates all workflow for assigned attorneys, delegating specific tasks to other teams and ensuring follow up and quality control.
- Prepares legal documents accurately, prioritizing assignments, and meeting specific deadlines.
- Assists in coordinating timekeeper calendars and meeting arrangements, as well as making travel arrangements and preparing itineraries.
- Coordinates client billing matters, prepares billing letters, and assists with tracking and monitoring alternative fee arrangements and matter budgets.
- Processes new client/matter intake, including preparing and processing new matter forms and requests for conflict checks.
- Reviews and routes incoming mail and fax communications, and prepares and processes outgoing mail and faxes.
- Provides general administrative support, including maintaining attorney contacts and tracking CLE and membership requirements.
- Works collaboratively in a team, actively participating in regular team meetings and using team software to manage workflow.
- Shows proficiency in Education law, supporting our Education practice group, including e-filing, calendar coordination, document edits, and pleadings.
- Operates office equipment and handles demands from timekeepers in a confidential manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of legal experience with a heavy focus on Education law is required.
- Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.
- Previous transcription experience preferred.
