Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Trust & Estate Counsel to join its Estate Planning Practice Group. The role focuses on providing legal services in estate and tax planning, business succession planning, and trust and estate administration for individuals, families, closely held business owners, executives, and fiduciaries. The ideal candidate will possess strong drafting and communication skills, a client-facing demeanor, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated legal matters within a supportive and professional environment.

Location:

  • Minneapolis, MN

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to individuals, families, closely held business owners, and corporate fiduciaries.
  • Assist clients with estate and tax planning, business succession planning, and trust and estate administration.
  • Draft and review complex estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Communicate directly with clients, addressing legal concerns and providing guidance on estate and trust matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to deliver comprehensive legal services to clients.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and client service in all matters.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in estate planning, trust and estate administration, and tax planning.
  • Strong drafting skills and experience with estate planning documents.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with client-facing experience.
  • Ability to manage matters independently while working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Solid academic credentials and a proven record of legal expertise.
  • A high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant state.

Skills:

  • Proficient in estate and trust planning, business succession planning, and related legal matters.
  • Excellent drafting, research, and legal writing skills.
  • Strong client-facing abilities with a focus on providing clear, actionable legal advice.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work independently.
  • Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
