Job Overview:
A reputable national law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Associate for its Employee Benefits practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a strong background in employee benefits law, including ERISA. The role offers the flexibility to be based in multiple office locations across the country. Ideal candidates will have experience in a variety of employee benefits issues and a proven ability to provide strategic, actionable legal advice to clients.

Location:

  • Princeton, NJ

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on employee benefits matters, including ERISA compliance
  • Advise clients on qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and more
  • Offer guidance on employee benefits issues in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and downsizing
  • Perform legal research and analysis, translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to resolve legal challenges related to employee benefits
  • Draft legal documents, including memos, reports, and client communications
  • Assist in strategic planning and case preparation under the guidance of senior attorneys and partners

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law, including knowledge of ERISA
  • Experience in areas such as qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, or mergers and acquisitions
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex matters in a simplified, actionable format
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research
  • Strong client relations skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in one of the listed jurisdictions is mandatory

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of employee benefits law, including ERISA
  • Analytical thinking and legal problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Client-focused, with excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills
  • Strong research and legal writing abilities
