Shumaker, a leading law firm in Toledo, is seeking a talented and experienced ERISA/Benefits Associate Attorney to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated and challenging ERISA cases for clients in Ohio and nationwide. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in employee benefits with knowledge of retirement plans, health and welfare plans, Taft-Hartley benefit plans, and executive compensation.

The Benefits Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing complex case assignments, conducting research, and providing strong communication and writing skills. They will also have the opportunity to work closely with clients and maintain ongoing communication. This position requires a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school, an active Ohio bar license, and strong technological skills.

Job Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active Ohio bar license
- 3+ years of professional ERISA law practice experience
- Strong technological skills, including proficiency with practice management systems and portals
- Superior research skills, including the use of online services and databases
- Project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality

In addition, candidates should be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which include sitting for extended periods of time, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds, and occasional bending and stooping.
