Varnum LLP, a full-service law firm with multiple offices and over 175 attorneys, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant for our Novi location. This is a full-time position that will involve working with our litigation and labor and employment practice teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to client service and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Requirements:
- 2+ years experience as a legal assistant, or relevant experience in a law firm, with prior litigation experience
- Bachelor's degree in legal studies or related field preferred; HS diploma required
- Advanced skills in MS Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Proficiency with Power Point, Adobe, iManage and/or other document management systems
- Ability to type 60+ wpm with a high degree of accuracy
- Willingness to adapt to and learn new technology, software programs and upgrades
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, transcription and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to remain professional and calm in stressful situations
- Willingness to work in a team-oriented service environment
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and assist others

Responsibilities:
- Provide support to litigation and labor and employment practice teams
- Assist with document management and organization
- Draft and proofread legal documents
- Communicate with clients and other parties in a professional manner
