Armstrong Teasdale LLP is a leading law firm seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Docket Administrator to join our team in Kansas City. This role is responsible for managing the docket system to track deadlines and ensure compliance with malpractice regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong international focus and experience in foreign docketing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor docket management for filing deadlines, including response dates for attorneys
• Research current rules and practices and oversee docketing procedures
• Supervise and provide professional development to other team members in the docketing department
• Generate daily and weekly reports for attorneys and clients upon request
• Work with IT to ensure updates and maintenance of the docketing database system
• Serve as the main point of contact with the docketing database system vendor
• Enter and manage data in docketing database systems and generate and route docket sheets to attorneys and their administrative support
• Review and enter due dates for transferred new matters into the docketing system
• Prepare patent application filing requests and transmittals, file Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) patent applications electronically, and handle all associated prosecution filings and client correspondence
• File foreign applications (via direct or national/regional phase) via foreign patent counsel and manage all associated formality requirements and non-substantive actions during foreign prosecution
• Review and approve patent invoices from foreign counsel
• Process and docket email requests from attorneys, secretaries, and others
• May report correspondence to clients
• May download and save pleadings to the firm’s internal document management system/case docket and circulate to the case team
• May assist with conducting internet research and patent screening searches

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of related experience (preferred 3-5 years)
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred Paralegal or Associate’s degree)
• Decision-making skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Excellent communication skills and ability to share information and maintain confidentiality
• Leadership skills and ability to provide feedback and solutions to problems
• Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to changes
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Alignment with the firm’s values and commitment to diversity and inclusion efforts

Physical Demands:

This role requires the employee to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
