Organization Background:

The Center for Reproductive Rights (the Center) is a global human rights organization working to protect reproductive rights as fundamental human rights around the world. With offices in New York City, New York; Nairobi, Kenya; Bogota, Colombia; Geneva, Switzerland; and Washington, ., the Center is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to changing laws and policies to advance reproductive rights in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United States. Our team of 230+ diverse professionals is committed to our mission through game-changing litigation, legal policy, and advocacy work. Job Summary:

The Global Advocacy Adviser will report to the Global Advocacy Department and be based in Washington . This role will be responsible for engaging the . government in support of our global advocacy agenda, building political will to advance SRHR in multilateral spaces, and supporting the Center's . foreign policy engagement. The Adviser will also be responsible for building strong relationships and positioning the Center as a technical expert across relevant . government agencies, Congress, and the Administration. The role will involve creating bridges across policy-making discussions and processes in Washington ., at the UN, and with governments around the world to support human rights protections for SRHR.

Primary Responsibilities:

Advocacy and Technical Support

- Develop responsive strategies to . legislative and policy developments that could impact the Center's priorities globally or at the UN.
- Provide legal expertise to federal agencies, Hill, and coalition members on key policy priorities and recommend policy positions.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to craft and execute foreign policy positions.
- Represent the Center in . government agency preparatory meetings for UN processes, as requested.
- Build relationships at the . Mission to the UN in both Geneva and New York to influence . positioning and negotiations in UN processes.
- Provide expertise on the human rights impacts of . foreign policies with external audiences.

Relationship and Coalition-building

- Position the Center as a global technical expert on SRHR and human rights with the . policy-making community.
- Build relationships with the State Department and other relevant agencies to influence . positioning and negotiations in UN processes and position the Center as a key source of technical support.
- Coordinate and collaborate with progressive allies and pro bono partners.
- Build effective partnerships to advance the Center's strategic plan.

Institutional Alignment

- Work closely with the Global Advocacy team and other key teams, such as the . Federal Policy and Advocacy team, to ensure strong . support for SRHR and human rights in multilateral processes.
- Prepare internal and external updates and written analyses of legislation/policy, key moments, or processes.
- Participate in strategy development across the Government and External Relations Department and regional programs, and support internal and external efforts to implement those strategies.

External Relations

- Translate complex policies and practices into accessible communications for diverse audiences, including lawmakers, advocates, and coalition partners.
- Support the development of public messages and media responses on key policy issues.
- Support the organization of events profiling our global work in .

Qualifications:

- Strong commitment to the Center's mission, purpose, and values.
- . or LLM required; admission to . or another relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in . foreign policy and international human rights law required.
- Experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies to influence . foreign policy required.
- Knowledge and experience engaging with the State Department and . foreign policy community preferred.
- Knowledge of UN and other multilateral processes strongly preferred.
- Advocacy experience to advance SRHR strongly preferred.
- Effective public speaking and writing skills.
- Outstanding legal/policy analysis skills.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
- Experience working or building coalitions in support of social justice, women's rights, and/or human rights movements strongly preferred.
- Experience working outside the . in a Global South context preferred.
