Five (5) years of related experience in labor law and litigation required, ten (10) or more years preferred. Experience in collective bargaining, grievance handling, and arbitration preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with internal staff, external contacts, senior legal and aviation professionals, and pilots. Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate long-term projects. Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to formulate decisions and/or solve problems, under time pressure and urgent conditions. Labor Relations Counsel - Chicago, IL Organization: Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) Location: Chicago, IL Salary: Competitive salary with excellent benefits Experience: 5+ years of labor law and litigation experience Type: Full-time, exempt ALPA, the largest airline pilot union in the world, is seeking a highly experienced Labor Relations Counsel for our office in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will provide support and assistance to pilot governing bodies and individual members on a wide range of labor relations issues. You will also handle negotiations, coordinate with involved parties, and manage contracts and legal cases. This position requires a thorough understanding of applicable laws and ALPA policies and procedures, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. Key Responsibilities: Provide assistance and support to pilot governing bodies and individual members on employment-related matters. Use comprehensive knowledge of labor laws and ALPA policies and procedures to handle complex labor relations assignments. Coordinate negotiations and maintain communication with involved parties. Monitor and administer contracts and handle FAA actions against individual pilots. Prepare summaries of NTSB Accident/Incident hearings and manage case management functions. Occasionally work on national projects in the Washington, . area. Actively listen, build trust, and adapt tactics to fit the audience.
