Job Title: Assistant Director of Student and Academic Services
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Student and Academic Services is a pivotal role within the Student Services Office and the Office of Academic Affairs at a reputed firm. The position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Students and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Experiential Learning. The core responsibilities of the Assistant Director include:
- Leading efforts to enhance the student experience by supporting various student services programs and publications.
- Taking on a leadership role in academic advising, student leadership development, and managing the law school’s academic scheduling and reporting requirements.
- Collaborating with students, faculty, administrative offices, and university offices to foster a positive academic environment.
- Playing a crucial role in collecting data and completing the Law School’s annual American Bar Association (ABA) accreditation reports and submissions to . News for its annual law school rankings.
- Working closely with faculty to identify curricular needs and assisting the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs with the academic schedule.
- Using independent judgment, motivating and supervising the work of others, and providing timely and accurate communication to students, staff, faculty, and accreditors.
- Preparing for site evaluations related to accreditation and coordinating submissions to . News for law school rankings.
- Facilitating the creation of the academic and final exam schedules in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
- Managing relationships with full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and visiting faculty, including collecting student feedback and coordinating scheduling preferences.
- Overseeing the RSO Rental Program and RSO Storage Program.
- Serving as the lead manager of the student government and student organizations, including attending weekly SBA meetings and working with student leaders to update bylaws and ensure effective organizational creation.
- Ensuring effective and consistent policies across all platforms, including Grading and Advancement Rules, the Catalog, and the Code of Student Responsibility.
- Recommending, drafting, and implementing policies and procedures for Student Services and Academic Affairs, including designing new programs to address changing student needs.
- Providing academic advising and general counseling for diverse law students on a wide range of issues, including course planning, professional development, and personal issues.
- Resolving sensitive student crises and grievances in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Students.
- Participating in Law School and University committees and advocating for students, providing student-focused perspectives and solutions.
- Enforcing academic regulations and the student code of conduct in conjunction with the Assistant Dean of Students and other university constituents.
- Drafting communications on behalf of Student Services and Academic Affairs and collaborating across campus to coordinate student communication.
- Coordinating and implementing the law school’s Orientation programming, including Orientation, Welcome Week, Reorientation, and other programs for 2L and 3L JD students.
- Engaging in community outreach and maintaining relationships with local communities, supporting programs and events.
- Working with campus and university facilities to ensure student support.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

- Two (2) years of related legal work experience.
- Two (2) years of related law school and/or higher-ed advising or student support experience.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift materials (20 lbs or less).
- Bending, stretching, and reaching required.
- Sitting for long periods.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
- Work performed during standard business hours.
- Frequently works evenings and weekends for special occasions and student events/meetings.
- Occasional travel to Stockton campus or educational conferences required.
- Valid driver’s license required, with eligibility to drive for University business.
Salary Information:
Hiring Range: $68, - $86, per year. Factors considered include the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, market, and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
