Job Overview
A reputed firm is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Adjunct Instructor to teach an Introduction to Intellectual Property Law course on a part-time basis during Fall 2025. This course is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of intellectual property law, focusing on the three primary federal doctrines: copyright, trademark, and patent law. Additionally, the course offers a brief introduction to related state law doctrines, such as rights of publicity and trade secrets, and explores the interaction between these legal doctrines.
The adjunct faculty at this reputed firm is comprised of distinguished jurists and practitioners who bring a wealth of practical experience and specialized expertise to the students. The adjunct faculty members enrich the curriculum by offering specialized courses and unique perspectives that might not otherwise be available. They provide students with exposure to different pedagogical approaches and access to leading practitioners and judges. Adjunct professors are part-time, non-tenure/tenure track employees who are responsible for teaching specific courses during agreed-upon semesters.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare for the course by developing the syllabus, selecting teaching materials, and preparing course materials and assessments/exams. This includes devising lesson plans and ensuring that syllabi contain course descriptions, learning objectives, assessment/exam dates, teaching and exam policies, required and recommended materials, assignments, and College/University policies.
Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning.
Teach assigned courses using fair and effective pedagogical and other teaching methods.
Track student attendance and refer students to the Administration for attendance and/or performance issues if necessary.
Utilize the institution’s learning management platforms (Canvas) to post assignments, syllabi, and other reference materials, and to communicate with students when appropriate.
Evaluate submitted student work and assessments/exams, providing written feedback to students in a timely manner.
Hold “office hours” to meet with students and provide individualized direction and assessment of progress.
Work with Administration to schedule make-up classes for any cancelled classes to ensure the proper number of teaching hours is completed.
Grade all mid-term and final exam papers/exams and other assessments as appropriate, in accordance with the College’s rules, and submit grades per timelines established by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Review student-completed course evaluations to analyze student perceptions of teaching and to gain insights into possible teaching improvements.
Adhere to all University and College of Law policies.
Complete all employment documentation and any required trainings.
Education and Experience Information
Minimum Requirements
Hold a .
Possess five years of . work experience in legal practice or a related field. Exceptions may be made for applicants with fewer years of experience if co-teaching with someone who has the minimum experience.
Demonstrate effective communication skills.
Maintain professional composure and demeanor at all times.

Additional Qualifications Considered
Prior teaching experience is desirable but not essential. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of teaching potential.
Face-to-face instruction is the default mode of teaching, though distance learning instruction may be approved under conditions outlined in the College’s Distance Learning Policy.
