Reputed Firm seeking Summer Legal Intern in Lynchburg, VA
Job Title: Summer Legal Intern
Experience: **Members Only** School of Law student who has completed at least one year of coursework
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Time Type: Part time
Location: Lynchburg, VA
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on state and federal law
- Prepare memorandums of law and draft legal documents
- Analyze and propose revisions to contracts and policy documents
- Perform research and other duties as assigned by General Counsel and team of attorneys
- Adhere to **Members Only** policies and represent the university in a professional manner
- Embrace and promote LU's Christian mission
Qualifications and Credentials:
- Strong academic background
- Excellent research skills, including proficiency in Westlaw
- Superior legal writing skills
- Completion of business track and transactional courses preferred
Abilities and Competencies Essential to the Function of the Job:
Communication and Comprehension:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in English language
- Public speaking skills for professional representation of **Members Only**
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Westlaw
Problem Solving:
- Ability to reason, analyze information, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems
Physical and Sensory Abilities:
- Ability to travel locally and on campus
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and use a keyboard
- Ability to hear and speak effectively
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs
- Ability to handle materials and reach overhead
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
Working Conditions:
- Climate-controlled office setting with moderate noise level
- Occasional outdoor events
- Use of personal or LU vehicles for travel may be required
