Job Responsibilities:
The attorney position serves within the Office of General Counsel at the Department of Health and is primarily responsible for employment and labor-related legal matters. Key responsibilities include:

- Representing the Department of Health in employment and labor matters, which involves handling administrative and court cases, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Providing legal opinions and recommendations to agency staff based on thorough legal research and analysis.
- Advising on, drafting, and editing policies and rules related to state employment and labor matters.
- Analyzing proposed statutory texts to assess potential impacts on the agency.
- Assisting with other legal matters as assigned by the supervisor within the Office of General Counsel.

Education and Experience Information:
The minimum qualification required for this position is a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, candidates must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or be qualified to apply for a limited practice license under Rules and NMRA. The work is primarily performed in an office setting, with occasional requirements for late hours, weekends, on-call duties, and potential callback work. The role involves regular use of video display terminals and keyboards and may entail stressful situations. Travel is a requirement of the position, and there may be exposure to irate clients. The incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.

Salary Information:
The salary for this position ranges from to hourly, which equates to an annual salary between $77,354 and $139,238. The position falls within Pay Band LH.
