Job Responsibilities:
The attorney position serves within the Office of General Counsel at the Department of Health and is primarily responsible for employment and labor-related legal matters. Key responsibilities include:

- Representing the Department of Health in employment and labor matters, which involves handling administrative and court cases, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Providing legal opinions and recommendations to agency staff based on thorough legal research and analysis.
- Advising on, drafting, and editing policies and rules related to state employment and labor matters.
- Analyzing proposed statutory texts to assess potential impacts on the agency.
- Assisting with other legal matters as assigned by the supervisor within the Office of General Counsel.

Education and Experience Information:
The minimum qualification required for this position is a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, candidates must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or be qualified to apply for a limited practice license under Rules and NMRA. Employment Requirements:
All attorney classifications must maintain their license as an attorney in good standing with the Supreme Court of New Mexico or be licensed and in good standing with the highest court of another state, and be eligible under the limited license provisions as per Rules and NMRA.

The work is primarily performed in an office setting, with occasional requirements for late hours, weekends, on-call duties, and potential callback work. The role involves regular use of video display terminals and keyboards and may entail stressful situations. Travel is a requirement of the position, and there may be exposure to irate clients. Salary Information:
The salary for this position ranges from to hourly, which equates to an annual salary between $77,354 and $139,238. The position falls within Pay Band LH.
