Job Title: Adjunct Professor of Law, Legal Writing

Job Responsibilities:

- Conduct seminars at scheduled times, typically once weekly for an hour at either 8pm or 9:15pm ET, usually Monday through Thursday.
- Respond to student emails and phone calls in accordance with the standards and policies set by the reputed firm.
- Mentor and advise students, which may include holding academic phone or video conferences as needed.
- Grade assignments, mid-term, and final examinations in a timely manner, ensuring feedback is individualized, actionable, and aligned with bar exam standards.
- Assist in curriculum maintenance and development, and participate continuously in applied scholarship activities in law and related fields.
- Prepare high-quality final examinations and model answers for inclusion in the school's essay pool for most courses, as courses are predesigned.
- Engage in ongoing training and peer evaluation to improve teaching methodologies.
- Attend faculty meetings regularly, which are typically online but may occasionally be in person. Review meeting recordings or minutes if unable to attend.
- Comply with the reputed firm's policies and procedures.
- Report a minimum of eight hours of professional development and/or Continuing Legal Education (CLE) each year through the online system.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience Information:

- A Doctoral Degree (JD) in Law is required.
- A minimum of one to two years of relevant experience and/or training is necessary.
- Experience in teaching legal writing is essential.
- The candidate must currently be in good standing (active or inactive) in all jurisdictions where they have applied or were admitted to practice law, with no significant history of bar discipline (suspension or disbarment are disqualifying events).
- Must possess and maintain computers and other technology meeting the minimum requirements of the school, along with reliable internet access.
- Significant experience with standard office applications like Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as internet-specific applications like browsers, video conferencing, microphone use, and shared editing tools such as those in the Google Suite, is required.
- Must have strong interpersonal, multi-tasking, written, and oral communication skills. The ability to teach and mentor academically and culturally diverse student populations is also required.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and learn new skills, software, and processes rapidly. Must be independent and a self-starter with a high degree of quality and professionalism.
- Ability to work within and support a school's collegial culture, interacting with others in a consistently honest, warm, courteous, and respectful manner is expected.
- Preferred qualifications include academic or practice experience in the field to be taught, or the equivalent. Prior teaching experience, preferably at the law school level in the field to be taught or in a closely related field, ideally using technology.
- Experience or willingness to learn effectively using the Google suite, especially Google Drive, Documents, and Calendar, is preferred.
- California or Indiana attorneys are encouraged to apply, although faculty from all over the US are recruited.

Salary Information:

- Compensation is paid per facilitated term for a course, starting at $4,000 or higher contingent on assignment.
- Term length is 16 weeks, with terms beginning in January, May, and August/September.
- The reputed firm desires a long-term relationship with faculty, including adjunct faculty. The average time of service for adjunct faculty members is seven years.
