Job Title: Attorney II – Consumer Banking & Wealth Management
Full Time

Job Responsibilities:

The Attorney II position within the Consumer Banking & Wealth Management department at the company entails providing comprehensive legal support and strategic advice to the Global Wealth & Investment Management line of business. The focus is on high net worth lending products, services, and regulatory matters, including securities-based loans, unsecured loans, and custom loans involving various collateral types and cross-border transactions. Key responsibilities include:

- Analyzing legal issues and implications related to high net worth lending products and services
- Providing legal support in structuring, negotiating, and documenting various types of loans
- Assisting with loan workouts and distressed loan scenarios, as well as internal and external audit examinations
- Communicating clear, concise, actionable, and business-informed legal advice, occasionally to leadership
- Interpreting rules, laws, and regulations from a compliance and business control standpoint, ensuring that proposed transactions comply with applicable policies, laws, and regulations
- Drafting, reviewing, and/or negotiating complex legal documents and legal opinions
- Gathering, assessing, and evaluating information from various sources to make a judgment or inference
- Supporting company responses to government agency examinations and investigations, enforcement actions, private complaints, and litigation
- Collaborating closely with various internal clients and partners, including product management, underwriters, document preparation groups, client-facing personnel, risk management, compliance, regulatory and audit partners, and other functions supporting the Global Wealth & Investment Management lending business

Education and Experience Information:

- A Juris Doctorate degree and at least one state bar admission (active/good standing)
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, preferably within a law firm setting or as in-house counsel at a banking/financial institution
- Strong understanding of loan, pledge, and security documentation, applicable consumer and bank regulations, applicable securities regulations, and issues associated with lending to clients of an affiliated broker-dealer
- Strong communication and drafting skills, with proven experience and confidence in risk identification, analysis, and resolution
- Strong risk management skills with a commercial and pragmatic approach to resolving issues
- Strong work ethic and proven ability to multitask and perform within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite and other related software

Salary Information:

The pay range for the Attorney II role is $159, - $239, annualized salary, with offers to be determined based on experience, education, and skill set. The role is also discretionary incentive eligible, allowing participation in the annual discretionary plan. Employees may receive an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group, and the overall success of the company.
