Job Overview:

A well-established law firm located in Delaware, OH is seeking a motivated legal professional to support a practice centered around farm succession, legacy preservation, and the unique legal needs of landowners and rural families. The role offers an opportunity to work directly with multi-generational clients, assist in developing estate and asset planning strategies, and support a mission-driven legal team committed to sustaining agricultural communities.

Duties:

  • Succession Planning & Estate Structuring

    • Draft foundational trusts (revocable, irrevocable, and others)

    • Lead will-based estate planning and associated documentation

    • Compile financial data for asset tracking and visual planning tools

    • Draft powers of attorney and related planning materials

    • Learn from senior attorneys on advanced planning strategies

  • Legacy & Probate Administration

    • File probate paperwork and handle court submissions

    • Prepare documentation and communication for estate administration

    • Work with fiduciaries and professional service providers

    • Draft deeds and filing documents for recording purposes

  • Rural & Agricultural Legal Matters

    • Provide support on various topics, including real estate issues, land use, drainage, agritourism, and property disputes

    • Assist in drafting specialized agreements and resolving conflicts

    • Tackle legal research and document drafting independently

  • Team Collaboration

    • Participate in meetings with clients and legal staff

    • Coordinate task assignments post-meetings

    • Record time and case progress, and assist with invoicing

  • Client Relationship Management

    • Engage with clients and financial professionals in a polished and professional manner

    • Maintain accurate client records, forms, and contact data

    • Update stakeholders on case progress and manage follow-ups

  • Legal Ethics & Compliance

    • Comply with state professional conduct rules

    • Maintain best practices in communication, filing, and client interaction

    • Prepare engagement letters and manage client trust funds when necessary

  • Community Engagement

    • Represent the firm in local agricultural and rural community events

    • Contribute to event preparation, newsletters, and professional seminars

Requirements:

  • Interest in serving farming families and landowners

  • Desire to support long-term rural estate planning solutions

  • Ability to balance independent work with collaborative team input

  • Drive to stay current on emerging legal developments

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Ohio Bar (active and in good standing)

Skills:

  • Strong writing and verbal communication

  • Proficiency with digital law office tools (Office Suite, billing systems, document automation, etc.)

  • Curious, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Client-centered service mindset

  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities under deadlines

Job Location:
