Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Transactions Attorney to join its Environmental Transactions practice. This role is ideal for a senior associate or junior partner with significant experience in environmental and energy law, particularly in the context of corporate and financing transactions. The attorney will be responsible for managing environmental risk, advising on regulatory compliance, and negotiating key environmental provisions in complex deals, especially within the energy sector.

Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Manage environmental components of M&A, financing, and restructuring transactions

  • Lead environmental due diligence reviews, including risk identification and analysis

  • Draft and negotiate environmental provisions for transaction and financing agreements

  • Prepare environmental disclosures for SEC filings and public company reports

  • Conduct legal research on advanced topics in environmental and energy law

  • Provide legal counsel on environmental compliance and regulatory obligations

  • Advise clients on environmental risks in the context of business operations and transactions

Requirements:

  • 6–8 years of legal experience in environmental and energy law

  • Strong background in corporate transactions and regulatory compliance

  • Experience managing environmental due diligence and drafting contractual provisions

  • Familiarity with SEC disclosure requirements related to environmental matters

  • In-depth understanding of federal and state environmental statutes and energy industry regulations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic credentials required

  • Law school transcript must be provided upon request

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in at least one . jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities

  • Proficiency in managing complex transactional workflows

  • Effective communicator with both internal teams and external clients

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
