Job Overview:

A respected Portland-based boutique law firm is seeking a full-time Entry-Level Associate Attorney to join its team in defending Oregon Workers’ Compensation claims. This position provides the opportunity to work directly with experienced attorneys in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment. It is ideal for a recent law school graduate, new admittee to the Oregon Bar, or a candidate who recently sat for the bar exam and is seeking to develop litigation and administrative hearing experience in a focused practice area.

Location:

  • Portland, Oregon

Duties:

  • Assist in the defense of workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employer clients

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and other pleadings

  • Review and analyze case files, medical records, and claim histories

  • Attend administrative hearings and depositions

  • Prepare case evaluations and assist in litigation strategy development

  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and claims representatives

  • Maintain organized case files and track deadlines

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal support staff on active cases

Requirements:

  • Interest in workers’ compensation law or insurance defense

  • Willingness to develop litigation and negotiation skills in a specialized practice area

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks

  • Strong commitment to learning and professional growth

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member in good standing with the Oregon State Bar

  • Recent bar examinees awaiting results are encouraged to apply

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and research skills

  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication
