This role is ideal for a seasoned legal professional with a strong background advising public school boards or educational institutions, who can operate independently and adapt to a dynamic legal landscape.

Advise and represent public school boards and educational entities on a wide range of legal matters
Handle legal issues involving student rights, employment law, board governance, regulatory compliance, and policy development
Draft legal documents including policies, contracts, and advisory memoranda
Attend and provide legal counsel during board meetings and administrative hearings
Collaborate with stakeholders to navigate evolving educational laws and mandates
Minimum of 7 years of education law experience, preferably representing boards of education
Experience working in a law firm or public sector legal environment
Ability to manage matters independently while providing strategic legal counsel
Demonstrated adaptability and problem-solving in complex legal scenarios
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance required
Active license to practice law in the state of North Carolina or ability to obtain admission
Deep understanding of federal and state education laws and regulations
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills
Ability to advise clients with clarity, confidence, and professionalism
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and interpersonal abilities
