Job Title: AVP, Associate General Counsel, North American Legal & Compliance Group
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as legal counsel to underwriters, providing advice and guidance on policy interpretation, claim trends, and insurance laws and regulations.
- Develop, draft, and revise various documents, including new insurance policies, endorsements, applications, and related materials.
- Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes, and assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Respond to underwriters’ requests for coverage analysis of policy form and endorsement language.
- Keep underwriters informed of judicial and legislative developments affecting their lines of business.
- Review and amend non-disclosure agreements as requested by underwriters.
- Assist underwriters in negotiating policy language with brokers and other policyholder representatives.
Education and Experience Information:
- Law degree and admission to practice in at least one state.
- 2-4 years of legal experience.
- Required experience in in-house or law firm insurance coverage.
- Required experience in product development and coverage issues.
- Ability to work independently and meet short deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Ability to quickly understand key business issues and operational objectives.
- Effective and confident communicator of complex messages, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences.
- Preferred experience in environmental insurance.
Salary Information:
- Compensation range: $105,000 - $140,000 annually.
- The annualized base pay range is based on analysis of similar positions in the market. Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as complexity, location, scope of the role, experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.
- Base salary is one component of the company's comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
