Off that bat, they're low-balling. They offering the same amount for 40hrs (50k) as they paid the previous assistant who only worked 35hrs. And, unfortunately, that pay breaks down to: > 30k for the actual work > 20k for biting your tongue "Paralegal" is a completely misleading title; the job is entirely that of a personal assistant (not even legal assistant) for the partner. And the first training pointer they gave me—an immediate red flag—was "just smile and nod when she says something". Your primary job is sending emails verbatim to clients that are forwarded you. You cannot make a single change in the wording, lest you receive a message back to you in ALL CAPS, demanding to know why you changed it. Your secondary job is updating calendars, scanning/sending mail, and performing as IT (whilst you are constantly berated). If you try to be friendly or proactive you're told to "go away" and that "If I wanted to you to do that, I would have told you so." Aside from internal affairs, no interaction with the clients is allowed to be personable at all. Every email you send has to be word-for-word from a template. The previous assistant was happy to get out of there and so was I.
Regina Snow Mandl She's abusive, passive aggressive, and fake.
The firm is really good with what it does. They take care of employees and clients, and have a passion for being honest. I would advise the firm to look into updating the software that it uses so we could have an easier time in helping cases.
On of the most positive things about the firm is how honest it is run. The attorneys really care and are looking out for the client's best interest in everything they do. They want an honest case and no one is looking for some dodgy inappropriate way to do business. The firm also makes a point to be willing to help anyone in any way that they can. The amount of caring the firm does really makes working here a joy and not a chore.
The software on some of the computers that we use is a little out of date. It's not that big of a hassle, but it makes some computers run a tad slower than the others.
Thank you.
