A review from someone who gains nothing.. on May 19, 2024 - Former Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time 2016 Former Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Pay your staff, those ones who stand in the trenches with you, and work so hard for you, listen to them when they do not know you can hear them, when they have your back and you are not watching, they are keepers! You cannot pay for that kind of loyalty.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
I have been in this business for many, many years, although I am simply a paralegal, those who know, really know, know that we make the world go around for our attorneys! I have had the opportunity to work with, for, and against many attorneys throughout these years. In our position, we get to see who the attorneys and staff really are. I must say that, during a big trial against one of Mr. Vaka's clients, he was kind, patient, humble, and his assistant mirrored his image. Trials are hard, long, tedious, and in this particular case, not only were there two attorneys working on the defense of the case, but a second was brought on to assist the Plaintiff. Mr. Vaka's tone of voice never changed, no matter what hour it was, how many things needed to be changed, or who did what wrong/right. I hope this helps someone, because we never really know who we are going to be working for, or hiring, until it is too late. I would pick Mr. Vaka, any day of the week. Sincerely, Someone who has been there.

What did you not like about this institution?
I would not write a con, because I cannot speak about the pay, benefits, etc. but I would say that they did not offer me enough money to move my position. I actually inquired about working there.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
I cannot recall the other attorney's name who was retained (co-plaintiff), but I personally liked Mr. Vaka himself. I am unfamiliar with the newer associates who work under Mr. Vaka now, so I must reserve judgement.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Anna Cherry was the first counsel on this case I have been describing, and she worked under Mr. Vaka. She worked very very hard for her clients, literally arguing every single motion, subpoena, etc. She represented him well.
