A Supportive Law Firm on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
There needs to be a focus on increasing office morale. Staff should be compensated more for their work. The staff should continue to be supportive to other employees.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
A positive law firm environment in which great staff are supportive of others. There is good learning experience in litigation. The work team is very professional.

What did you not like about this institution?
Some of the firm employees lack passion. The starting salary is very low. There are high expectations for the amount of hours to work. Some employees are not happy, which results in poor office morale.

Fire A.S.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Most of the partners, associates and staff are polished and professional.

What did you not like about this institution?
Perfect place if you are a workaholic. The pay and billable hour requirement are out of synch.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution

Former Associate - left in 2020 - Avoid this place on May 19, 2024 - Former Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time 2020 Former Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Stop breaking down associates’ self esteem. Cut the insane billable requirement. Cut the bullshit. Learn some humanity.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Most of the partners are nice people and there is some support for sharing your ideas.

What did you not like about this institution?
Attorney salary starts at 44k and maxes out at 75-85k after 5 years. Require 225 billable hours monthly, which I think is maybe the highest billable requirement in North America. Extremely cheap/low salary, no raises really. They also don’t care about work quality - just bring in new clients for millionaire partners.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Avoid Jeff Bell and Eric Schlesinger. They have an inferiority complex. Most other partners are mediocre on the legal work.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Good experience with court appearances in NJ. Arbitrations, conferences, and other public speaking experience.

Where careers go to die. Awful place to work. on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Shut the place down.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Healthcare benefits are decent but don’t start for the first 6 months. The place is overall bad for your health. Only the handful of workers comp lawyers are nice.

What did you not like about this institution?
Extremely low pay and no raises. Insane work hours. Partners are not interested in seeing the staff grow personally or professionally. High turnover. Management is extremely harsh, quick to anger. Workers comp partners are great but general liability partners mediocre at best. Some of the partners are actually quite stupid and make racist comments. There is no workplace culture unless you count racist white boys’ club. Collaboration and communication are discouraged. Work is uninteresting.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Nearly all of the partners are just terrible at managing people. Especially should avoid Jeff Bell, Phil Lundell, Eric Schlesinger, Audrey Shields.

Very low pay and no interest in attorneys’ development on May 19, 2024 - Former Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time 2021 Former Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Need better management and team building.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Support staff tend to be very helpful.

What did you not like about this institution?
Most partners were quick to anger and slow to reason. You get berated for asking questions. Law firm is based on getting as much work out of associates for as little pay possible. No real raises or advancement. They have very high turnover.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Audrey Shields - belligerent and stupid. Eric Schlesinger - refuses to answer associate questions and insults associates. Jeff Bell - he is terribly mean, and makes fun of some of the support staff. He is verbally abusive. Some partners expressed far-right political views.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
The support staff, but they are way underpaid.
