What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Personally, I would like all the money he took from me back from all the fake charges he made.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Nothing

What did you not like about this institution?
Him charging me for cases he had no intention of following through with and taking 90% of the settlement.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Everyone and everything. They have no intention of helping people. They scam you at your lowest point and use it like a sponge until you are dried out, and whether the case is closed or not they throw you away.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Stop lying and follow through with the job. Actually do some work instead of pretending to purposely drag out the case.

Attorney it’s a dog eat dog hostel work environment where so,e of the partners bully belittle and bully the lawyers below them. Lawyers are awarded bonus for quickly settling cases for far less then they are worth and convincing the client that the settlement was a major achievement. The firm does value those with disabilities and refuses to engage in any sort of meaningful accommodations dialogues.in the interview Spitz will off 60,000. If you say no , he will call back in a week and offer 650 on Aug 20, 2024 - Former Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Management is egotistical, arbitrary, bullying and poorly organized

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Some of the associates are very nice.

Do Not Work Here If You Care About Ethics And Your Reputation on May 19, 2024 - Former Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time 2017 Former Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Learn to listen to your attorneys. There has been nearly 100% turnover in 2017 and yet management still does not understand that the problem lies within the firm. Lower the case load, make everyone responsible for the same amount of work, and allow attorneys to reject claims as they see fit.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
There’s two good things about working there: your co-workers and the experience (if you can get over the panic attacks that accompany your case load). You will have cases in courts all over Ohio, in both state and federal court. You will defend numerous motions for summary judgment, file plenty of appeals, and you will become very good at defending against motions to dismiss. Since managing partner is in Aruba so often and the other more senior attorneys are swamped with their own case load, you will get to work very independently and figure things out on your own. For some this is a good learning experience. In all honesty, it is the experience that earned Spitz Law Firm two stars. This is a generous rating but if you work hard during your time there you will have a lot of experience by the time another job offer presents itself.

What did you not like about this institution?
Do you remember when you were little and you accidentally slipped into the deep end of the swimming pool, causing you to think death was imminent until you made your way back to the shallow end? That’s what you feel like working at the Spitz Law Firm— except there is no shallow end. Your case load will always be a problem. It is not unusual for attorneys at Spitz to have case loads in the high 80's (or higher).

Great Grindstone on May 19, 2024 - Current Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time Current Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Sometimes the firm gets caught up on menial procedural "issues". I know they have their purpose, but at times it seems like it isn't the best use of firm time to review details that staff should be working on.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Spitz is a great place to be. Other previous attorneys that try to scare you came out of law school expecting to have a 10 person case load and work 40 hours a week. What you get here is the ability to negotiate in a pre-litigation environment while getting tons of litigation experience with managing partners, who slowly hand you your own cases after working side-by-side. The motto here is "Family First", and I have never once emailed Brian or the CEO and have them not get back to me in a timely manner. Staff here is awesome too, typically as a staff member (paralegal) you prepare and send correspondence docs and schedule for your attorney. Staff and Attorneys here are pretty close. The turnover I've seen in over a year here comes from people who show up late, missed a deadline and argue about it. Bottom line, the partners are great people and civil litigation is a fast-paced job that you'll never be caught up on if you're good at it.

What did you not like about this institution?
High case loads feel overwhelming, but there is an in-house docketing clerk, pre-set deadlines-to-file, and a huge attorney/staff support team that will help you.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
This just seems like it was made to illicit a bad review. Why would you continue to work at a Firm where you don't like a partner?

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Family first attitude. We are a team of friendly professionals that has a job to do, and we have fun while doing it. We solve problems together, and yeah we can get on each others nerves, but I've made some great friends and colleagues here.

Won my case! on May 19, 2024 - Former Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Full time 2019 Former Employee

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Always stay in contact with client weekly or biweekly.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Won my case, that's all I wanted was to get something rather than nothing. To feel that they didn't get away with murder and I benefitted a little bit and they saw some repercussions in their decisions.

What did you not like about this institution?
Took a little more of my winnings than anticipated but did do all the work with no upfront payments! Really should go at those big companies though. Settlement numbers a little fuzzy..who gets what, who gets taxed what later, several payments, lost payments. Payment later in the year that got lost in mail that was not cashable..don't know if I got whole settlement and why I had to pay extra taxes again.

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
1st 2 tiers ..didn't really seem to fight to hard although the case was cut and dry.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Everything was taken care of over the phone and through email. Winnings direct deposited to bank account.
