1.0Current EmployeeTransportation Group at Windels Marx in New York CityAssociate in New York, NYRecommendProsIt's a job with a salary.ConsEvery single person in the Transportation Group at Windels Marx, from secretaries to associates to partners, are extremely unhappy with how the show is run. Everybody gets bullied, paid way below market wages, and some of the already poor benefits have been taken away from the employees. Not only this, but I've received complaints even from clients about the behavior of some partners (in particular about not following up on some client requests and being very insistent about money). Of course this is still a job, so if you absolutely can't find anything else and need money (which will be very little) go ahead and take it, but I'd recommend you start looking for another job on your first day.Advice to ManagementRespect clients and employees.

Windels Marx Needs Improvement
Jan 30, 2023 - Former Employee
Full time 2022 Former Employee

During my short time at Windels Marx, I saw a lot of room for improvement in the company's culture and operations. The working environment was cramped and confined, with a lack of backup plans and a generally unprofessional culture. The low salaries and lack of support for employees was also a major issue. I believe that the company would benefit from a review of current market professional standards and the integration of these standards into the company culture. Additionally, the company should equip its departments with modern systems and technology to create a better work environment for employees.

This Firm is Fun

This firm needs to consider paying their employees more. Otherwise employees will look for better paying jobs elsewhere.

This firm offers a great work environment that is friendly and open. I like that we have weekly staff meetings to discuss any issues we have with the law firm and things we have done well. Employees get along very well with one another and we really feel like family here.

My only gripe with this law firm is the pay. It isn't terrible but it isn't wonderful either. Other firms pay more and it would be nice if this firm paid more for their positions.

Nice Co-workers, Bad Pay

Management should increase the pay scale up to the industry's standard and give more interesting cases to all employees.

The location was very close to home and my co-workers were extremely nice. I also enjoyed speaking with some of the senior partners.

The pay was not very good and it was a very difficult to get good assignments. Additionally, I didn't like the fact that I had to work on weekends sometimes.

Administrative staff will listen to your concerns, but management needs improvement

I would like to see more communication between departments and even with upper management as to how to resolve issues revolving around a lack of cohesion and partnership. In addition, as a recent graduate, I did not feel valued as someone who could positively benefit the firm's interests. Instead, I feel that the firm and its management need to work on providingthe experience new graduates need to develop professionally in the legal industry.

Administrative staff will listen to your concerns, but management needs improvement

As opposed to the administrative staff, the management has yet to take into account concerns that have been made. I felt that each department at the firm seemed to operate on its own, separate from the larger firm. While here, I did not feel like my department worked as a part of a bigger team. It felt disconnected and did not contribute to my team's morale.
