Advice to law firm management: Be consistent in the distribution of work, compensation decisions and the enforcement of policies. Stop couching politics and management’s affinity for cliques in “progressive” rhetoric. It’s totally transparent. Be more inclusive.
Pros: There are some wonderful partners with deep knowledge to share.
Cons: Only those who play into firm politics and favoritism seem to be successful and able to stay long term. Favoritism seems to drive compensation and that appears to drive out most laterals and associates.
