We're competitive in each of the markets in which we practice. Salary increases are effective January 1 of each year and are based on individual performance. Increases are intended to reward and encourage excellence, maturity, productivity and firm citizenship.
The firm provides formal written evaluations to associates and of counsel lawyers on an annual basis, usually at or near the end of the calendar year. For new associates in their first year of practice, and in some circumstances when additional feedback is desired for an individual associate, a midyear evaluation may also be provided. The written evaluation generally is accompanied by an evaluation conference with two partners in the associate's practice group. In most cases, one of the partners in the conference will be the Practice Group Leader or the Section Leader. Lawyers are encouraged to use the evaluation conference to ask questions regarding the evaluation and to seek candid feedback on areas for improvement. The evaluation conference also provides an opportunity for discussion of the associate's self-evaluation form and the associate's individual lawyer plan.
