What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Management needs to ensure that everyone is being treated respectfully at all times, including the support staff. This would help morale tremendously.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
There is a very good training program in place here and the leadership team does a great job developing the associates. There is also a level of teamwork here that I don't think many other firms share.

What did you not like about this institution?
Some of the more tenured associates are cliquish and prone to treating others badly. This is especially true when they are interacting with support staff.

Tell your people to think before they shoot.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Very strongly worded letters.

What did you not like about this institution?
Possibly stupid enough to break nearly every employee protection law they have in Texas on behalf of their client. Texas has very little employee protection laws btw.

How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
They threatened to sue me on behalf their client (especially if I ever contact a member of their client's business) and now do not respond to me even when I do things like contact members of client's business to transmit messages to their law firm.

Porter Hedges believes that pro bono activities are an important professional responsibility. Summer Associate Program

Our, first half, six-week Summer Associate Program is designed to give a realistic view of the practice at Porter Hedges. Each summer associate is assigned a partner and associate advisor and is given an opportunity to work in several areas of practice within the firm. Work assignments consist of a variety of "real-life" projects similar to those handled by our new associates. This may involve attending trials, hearings, depositions, and negotiating sessions, drafting documents and conducting legal research. The firm encourages students to broaden their work experience by completing a second session at another firm.
