Advice to law firm management: A few people here seemingly had the ability to make things unpleasant for a disproportionately large amount of others. Maybe the firm should not be organized in such a steeply hierarchical way. Few people are motivated to work their hardest when they know that only a handful of people are truly powerful within the firm.
Pros: Support staff was helpful and dedicated. Firm had rather reasonable policies about flexible hours and other measures related to work-life balance.
Cons: Younger associates were not given sufficient opportunity to grow and demonstrate skill. Some partners took the hard-working support staff for granted. Even the most resolute personnel seemed to get frustrated occasionally.
