Approach work with an open mind and a good work ethic and you will do well here.

I did a 6 month internship here so I don't have too much experience, but I found it to be a great place to learn and grow.

I wasn't able to get hired on for a permanent position but that might change in the future.

Provide a better medical and dental plan. Support your team.

There are opportunities for advancement here. The hours are very flexible. The atmosphere is great and innovative. The support staff are wonderful.

The workload is very demanding. There is a huge time commitment here. Personalities are harsh and the industry is male dominated.

Akin Gump was founded on the principles of diversity. The tradition of diversity continuously challenges the firm to remain committed to an inclusive environment. The firm has also hired an African-American as a partner and also has instituted a hiring committee and associates committee across the firm. Additionally, there are numerous women and minority lawyer members on the firm's payroll.

The firm maintains a two tiered diversity committee system, which includes a firm wide committee as well as local office committees. Summer associate program

Summer Associates at Akin Gump are provided a realistic opportunity to learn about life at a law firm while simultaneously recognizing the individual needs of the summer associates themselves. The summer Associate program at Akin Gump is designed for students who have completed their second year of law school.

This program provides summer associates an opportunity to work on challenging and interesting assignments from a variety of practice areas. Summer associates at Akin Gump receive excellent training, mentoring, and feedback on their progress at the firm. Additionally, they get a strong sense of what it is to practice law at the firm.

One of the top priorities of the firm is to provide summer associates with realistic work experience that they would receive as a real attorney or advocate after graduation. Summer associates work for a variety of projects that make their goals consistent after they complete their summer work. The firm has in place an open door policy that makes the process of working on assignments less daunting and more interesting.
