Hiring Criteria

Excellent academics and demonstrated writing skills. Prefer students in the top 10-15% of class and participation in law journal, moot court or mock trial.

Pro bono

Calfee is very active in pro bono activities in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. We are a repeating participant in the Cleveland Legal Aid Society's Volunteer Lawyer's Program, including their Free Advice Clinics and Evening Law Clinics. Our lawyers also spend time donating legal hours to the Bankruptcy Bypass program sponsored by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) and Legal Aid Society; Wills for Heroes, a program that prepares free estate plans for fire, police and other first responders; and the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC videos: Teresa Metcalf Beasley featured in a farewell video to former CEO, Megan O'Bryan; Calfee honored at The Faces of Change Luncheon).
