Duties: Research and writing. Client interaction (meetings and phone calls). Motion drafting and practice. Draft demands to oppose counsel or parties. Client correspondence. Hear preparation and attend court proceedings. Investigation and development of facts in individual cases. Strategize with the Firm's attorneys on individual cases. Attend regularly scheduled training and education sessions offered by the Firm for the summer program.
The intern will interface with senior staff, engage in important district projects, attend events, compile daily briefings, conduct research, and interact with constituents. Should preferably have strong writing skills and work ethic.

The student will be responsible for taking initial client applications. Will gather basic background, statistical, and financial eligibility information. Listen to a person's problem and prepare a written summary for a staff attorney to review. Computer, interviewing, and bilingual skills are helpful. Must have a professional work ethic.
Law Student Volunteer, Academic Year
The interns assist attorneys in preparing for bankruptcy court appearances, developing bankruptcy fraud referrals, attorney misconduct, screening cases for debtor abuse of the Bankruptcy Code, reviewing documents in chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases, assisting with drafting and filing of motions and objections as appropriate, and monitoring section 341 meetings between debtors and creditors.
