Duties
- Draft and file patent applications for mechanical, electrical, or related technologies.
- Work closely with inventors and clients to assess and capture innovative technologies.
- Conduct patent searches and provide patentability opinions.
- Review and respond to Office Actions from the USPTO.
- Collaborate with legal teams to develop strategies for intellectual property portfolio management.
- Assist in the preparation of documents for patent litigation, when necessary.
- Maintain and manage patent prosecution matters, ensuring timely filing and compliance.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications.
- Expertise in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related technical field such as mathematics or physics.
- Knowledge of other intellectual property forms and related legal frameworks is a plus.
- Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Education
- A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field such as mathematics or physics.
Certifications
- USPTO registration is required.
