Job Title: Legal Counsel (Intellectual Property)
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and negotiate contracts, particularly those related to intellectual property protection, licensing, and confidentiality.
- Provide consultation and advisory services on moderately complex or critical issues concerning the company's rights, privileges, and obligations.
- Prepare legal opinion letters, memoranda, or analyses involving legal principles, risk-benefits, and compliance of a moderately complex nature.
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory changes, especially regarding intellectual property.
- Collaborate with external counsel, consultants, or third parties on legal issues and manage the company's claims and lawsuits as assigned.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance with intellectual property regulations and align strategies accordingly.
- Prepare and conduct staff training on various legal matters, including intellectual property protection.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate and a license to practice law in the state employed.
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Preferred qualifications include an undergraduate degree and/or experience in a related technical field such as engineering, architecture, construction management, or software development.
- Experience with Intellectual Property (IP) prosecution/defense.
- Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) management software.
- Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS).
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff at all levels within the organization.
- Effective time management and ability to handle competing priorities.
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and practices, particularly as they pertain to contracts and environmental law.
- Proficient knowledge of intellectual property laws and protections.
Salary Information:
- Additional compensation in the form of bonuses is discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
Additional Information:
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required, with a travel requirement of 10%.
