- Participating in bench trials and formal hearings.
- Reviewing and managing case files.
- Potentially preparing and conducting one or more jury trials during the summer period.
- Attending various family court proceedings, depending on the needs of the prosecutor's office.
- Representing the People of the State of Michigan in court proceedings under Michigan Court Rule .
- Engaging in trial practice assignments similar to those given to new assistant prosecutors.

Education and Experience Information:
To be eligible for the internship, candidates must meet the following educational and experiential criteria:
- Completion of at least 40 credit hours of law school by May 8, 2026.
- Must be a law student in good standing.
- Must have at least one semester or term of law school remaining after the completion of the internship.
- An articulable interest in the criminal justice system, specifically in the field of prosecution, is required.

Salary Information:
Interns will be compensated with a salary of $9, for the 11-week internship period. This is based on a 40-hour workweek at a rate of per hour. It is important to note that intern positions are at-will, and each intern serves at the pleasure of the host county prosecutor.

Additional Program Information:
- The program is administered by the Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council (PACC), a state agency responsible for providing training, informational services, and technical assistance to Michigan’s 83 county prosecutors and their staff.
- Interns are required to attend a four-day training and orientation session prior to starting the internship. This training will be held in the Lansing area in May 2026 and will cover the duties and responsibilities of prosecutors, as well as an intensive overview of legal subjects and trial advocacy. While interns are not paid during the training period, training costs, including most meals and materials, are covered. Lodging is provided at no cost for interns living more than 50 miles from the training area.
- The application process for the internship involves submitting a cover letter, resume, PAAM’s pre-interview survey, law school transcript (unofficial is acceptable), and a writing sample. Applicants from law schools that participate in on-campus interviews with PAAM must submit applications through that process. Those from other schools should send applications to the PACC Training Attorney and Internship Coordinator.

The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan is an equal opportunity employer, encouraging all eligible candidates to apply for this enriching opportunity to gain firsthand experience in legal practice and courtroom advocacy.
