GEICO is seeking an experienced legal professional with a background in insurance products to serve as an embedded Product Legal Advisor. In this role, you will support the personal auto business by providing legal advice and guidance as they develop new products and refine their work. You will work closely with your assigned business unit to understand their goals and plans, anticipate future legal needs, and advise on legal requirements in language that is easily understood by non-legal professionals. You will also coordinate with other members of the legal department to provide specialized legal expertise when needed.

As a Product Attorney, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the business by using your wide range of legal knowledge to identify and address any potential legal implications of business decisions. You will also have the chance to advise your business unit on future risks and opportunities and help them navigate legal and legal-adjacent risks. We are looking for a solution-oriented individual with exceptional judgement and the ability to quickly digest and understand business plans and processes.

Basic Qualifications:

- Must have at least 5 years of experience as a legal advisor for products within property/casualty insurance, either in a law firm or in-house
- Must have a law degree and an active law license to practice in the United States of America
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Ability to provide legal advice with incomplete information
- Superb judgement about legal and legal-adjacent risks as well as mitigation opportunities
- Must be solution oriented
- Preferred experience in product counseling or as a product attorney
- Demonstrated experience solving business problems and advancing business metrics

Location:

This is a hybrid position, requiring the individual to work 2-3 days onsite at our Chevy Chase, MD or New York, NY location.
