Salary information: The wage range for this role is estimated to be $63,420 to $126,620, and may vary based on factors such as skill sets, experience, training, certifications, and geographic location. Additional benefits and incentives, such as an annual incentive program, may also be available.
Job Title: Tax Senior - Hedge Fund Tax (Central Region Locations)
Experience: 3+ years of experience in providing tax planning services, preparing and reviewing tax workpapers and returns, and a solid understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, and aggregate allocations. Advanced degree and previous Big 4 experience preferred.
Position Summary:
- Seeking a Tax Senior with a passion for financial products and a strong understanding of tax planning and returns for hedge fund clients.
- This role requires identifying complex tax issues and providing tax analyses for a variety of hedge fund clients and their affiliates.
- The right candidate should have knowledge of Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, and related tax adjustments, as well as experience with trader vs. investor determination and federal, international, and state investor reporting.

What You'll Do:
- Perform detail-level review of tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Conduct research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities with the support of the Washington National Tax group.
- Build and maintain relationships with client contacts to gather information.
- Train, mentor, and supervise new and experienced-level staff.
- Attend required **Members Only** and sector-specific training.

- The US tax industry group consists of over 1,400 partners, principals, and employees providing a spectrum of tax services to a broad range of Investment Management companies.
- Clients include investment advisers and administrators from every sector of the industry, including hedge funds, private equity, alternative products, family offices, mutual funds, broker-dealers, banks, insurance companies, and other investment managers.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to work within a hybrid work model, co-locating in person 2-3 days per week.
- 3+ years of experience in tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client workpapers and income tax returns.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
- Active accreditation, in process, or willingness to obtain one of the following: CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, or certifications such as CFA or CFP.
- Ability to travel up to 25% based on the work, clients, and industries/sectors served.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Previous Big 4 experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, and wash sale and constructive sale rules.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.
