The successful candidate will lead the firm's environmental practice, focusing on complex legal matters related to environmental liabilities in mergers and acquisitions.DutiesLead environmental counsel in mergers and acquisitions.Assess environmental risks and draft related provisions.Handle permitting and compliance under federal and state laws.Engage with environmental agencies and consultants.Provide strategic legal advice to clients across industries.RequirementsMinimum of 10 years of experience in environmental law.Proven track record in CERCLA and RCRA matters.Experience with environmental due diligence and insurance.Licensed to practice in Illinois or Colorado, or eligible for comity.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.CertificationsBar admission in Illinois or Colorado, or eligibility for waiver.SkillsStrong analytical and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Proficient in environmental law research and application.
