Job Title:
Tax Manager - Renewable Energy

Job Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on tax issues related to renewable energy projects, including those involving wind, solar, battery storage, geothermal, biomass, and fuel cell projects.
- Work collaboratively with a team focused on renewable energy and sustainability, coordinating with colleagues across various departments including Tax, Advisory, Consulting, and Audit and Assurance.
- Manage renewable energy client engagements and participate in targeting new clients.
- Deliver value to clients by identifying opportunities and advising on potential benefits and eligibility requirements related to various tax credits, such as IRC section 48 Investment Tax Credit, IRC section 45 Production Tax Credit, IRC section 45Q Carbon Capture Tax Credit, and IRC section 45V Clean Hydrogen Tax Credit.
- Prepare tax returns and provide advisory services related to modeling and structuring renewable energy tax equity structures, including partnership flips, sale-leasebacks, and pass-through leases.
- Maintain and develop strong internal and client relationships, demonstrating sound judgment and a quality-first mentality.
- Collaborate with member firms to execute work streams, such as cost segregation studies and tax equity financial modeling.
- Identify potential issues, propose solutions to leadership, and implement process improvement strategies.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of engagement deliverables, including presentation decks, executive summaries, credit calculations, completed tax forms, supporting files, memoranda, and IRS audit responses.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and work with the team to present potential opportunities to assist clients.
- Develop and mentor team members.
- Provide support with various internal initiatives and special tax-related projects.

Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, or a related field is required.
- 5+ years of experience in a related field is required (an exception applies for those with a master’s degree, requiring 2+ years of experience).
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills, are required.
- Proven leadership skills with strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal and external working relationships is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities are required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is required.
- Ability to travel up to 25% on average, based on the work and clients served, is required.
- One of the following active accreditations is required:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications: Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, LLM, or JD, or a related field.
- Experience with tax technical research (., CCH, Hein, Lexis, RIA, etc.).
- Experience with Federal or State and Local C&I.
- Experience with sustainability technologies or environmental sciences.
- Previous experience with Big 4 or large CPA or law firms.

Salary Information:
The wage range for this role is estimated to be between $93,660 and $213,200. Compensation decisions are dependent on various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.

- Candidates may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
- The role requires a hybrid work model with US Tax professionals co-locating in person 2–3 days per week.
