JOB SUMMARY:

This role is designed for an individual with strong critical thinking skills who desires to collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals to foster a culture of respect, mutual consideration, and the production of high-quality legal work. Candidates will receive comprehensive training and clear guidance, with the expectation that tasks will be executed meticulously and attentively.

The responsibilities encompass all facets of the legal process related to secured lending. This includes but is not limited to civil litigation, title litigation, and potential bankruptcy matters. Key tasks involve drafting discovery and legal pleadings, including dispositive motions, maintaining timely correspondence with clients to ensure an excellent client experience, regularly communicating with court officers and opposing counsel, and conducting depositions and court appearances with thorough preparation and competence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Strong character and a positive attitude are essential.
- Conduct initial intake and analysis on files and generate strategy and budget within a 24-hour timeframe.
- Demonstrate strong writing skills to draft civil litigation documents, including discovery, dispositive motions, and client correspondence.
- Review chain of title, pleadings, and foreclosure documents, and respond to lender and agent requests.
- Adapt quickly to shifting tasks based on daily needs.
- Make court appearances across California and provide same-day client updates.
- Address questions from staff in a supportive manner.
- Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, and correspondence for compliance purposes.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, with the ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations. This is typically acquired through completing a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and relevant work experience.
- Active membership in the CA State Bar, in good standing, is required.
- Maintaining a professional appearance and projecting a positive company image to the public is necessary.
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience in the mortgage area is preferred.

- Ability to work remotely with the same efficiency and competence as in-office work.
- Must be a motivated self-starter, capable of multitasking, detail-oriented, flexible, and personable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proficiency with computer applications, technology, telephone, and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with borrowers, clients, attorneys, colleagues, and various outside parties.
- Capable of working collaboratively in a congenial and team-oriented manner.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently and gather and analyze information effectively.
- Know when to escalate issues to management.
- Balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and seek ways to improve and promote quality.
- Flexibility and adaptability for fast-paced and high-growth potential.
- Exceptional organizational skills are required; the position demands the ability to multitask and adapt to continual change.
- Proficiency in internet research, including WestLaw and/or LexisNexis, is required.
