Job Title: Tax Manager, Core Tax Services

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Manager, Core Tax Services is primarily responsible for advising clients on the tax implications related to their business objectives. This role involves evaluating and selecting alternative actions to minimize tax burdens and compliance costs while ensuring adherence to tax regulations. The Tax Manager acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues, applying their knowledge to understand potential tax issues, and communicating potential risks and changes in tax policy. Key responsibilities include:

- Tax Compliance: Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities and minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. The Tax Manager conducts top-level reviews of tax returns, resolves tax issues, and plans the tax process, including budgeting, staffing, billing, and client relationship management.
- Research: Identifying when research is needed, framing issues for research, and reporting analyses. The manager ensures compliance with firm and professional standards.
- ASC 740-10 Tax Accruals: Applying firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48, explaining components of income tax provisions, and communicating with assurance counterparts for timely tax accrual reviews.
- Tax Consulting: Developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by decreasing taxes. The Tax Manager serves as a technical resource, ensures compliance with firm policies on written tax advice, and provides exam support.
- Tax Specialization: Gaining an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in one or more areas of taxation and possibly conducting internal training sessions.
- Strategy Development: Introducing and developing new ideas to improve client and firm positions by reducing taxes or expenses and providing non-tax benefits.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Supervising associates and senior associates on projects.
- Reviewing work prepared by associates and senior associates.
- Training associates and seniors on software tools.
- Acting as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates.
- Managing workloads and providing performance feedback.

Education and Experience Information:

- Education: A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics. A master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant tax experience or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required. Prior supervisory experience is also required. Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties is preferred.
- License/Certifications: CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent is required. Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role are preferred.
- Software: Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software are preferred.

Salary Information:

Salaries offered to candidates are determined by various factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary ranges for different locations are as follows:

- California Range: $112,000 - $150,000
- Colorado Range: $104,500 - $115,500
- Illinois Range: $105,000 - $130,000
- Maryland Range: $111,000 - $122,000
- Minnesota Range: $90,000 - $120,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $120,000 - $150,000
- Washington Range: $107,400 - $126,900
- Washington DC Range: $123,000 - $139,000
