This position will involve performing advanced senior-level legal work, including prosecuting and defending all manner of civil and criminal matters in various levels of trials and appellate courts and administrative forums. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of higher level attorneys to gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and expertise for this position.
Some examples of the work that will be performed in this role include making decisions and counseling with clients, victims, or police regarding court proceedings, providing legal advice, appearing in court to present evidence and make legal arguments, drafting legal documents, conducting investigations, and negotiating settlements. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree and be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas with a good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
Additionally, felony courtroom experience as an Assistant District Attorney/Prosecutor with an emphasis on criminal trial expertise is preferred. The successful candidate must also have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license and be able to be insured by the County's insurance carrier. The ability to work efficiently and effectively in high-pressure situations, as well as strong communication and analytical skills, are also important for this role.
