Job Title: Counsel, Litigation & Government Affairs
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the management of the Company’s complex litigation docket, which includes product liability, auto liability, mass tort/asbestos liability, commercial, intellectual property, employment, and regulatory litigation, under the oversight of the Sr. Legal Director – Litigation & Government Affairs.
- Develop and manage litigation, product safety, and legal spend reports for the Legal Department and business leaders to enhance visibility and inform effective decision-making.
- Provide legal counsel on regulatory matters concerning the Company’s corporate functions and businesses, covering areas such as product safety, consumer protection, antitrust, commercial matters, health and wellness regulation, environmental law, and more.
- Implement effective risk management techniques and offer proactive strategic legal advice, emphasizing business solutions before problems arise.
- Research, identify, and evaluate risk factors and legal issues that might impact operations or business objectives.
- Engage and negotiate with external parties (., regulators, external counsel, consumer protection agencies), building trust and strong relationships.
- Manage litigation and regulatory-related administrative duties, including service of process, litigation holds, law firm billing and reporting, among others.
- Monitor government activities that could affect the Company’s business, customers, and industry.
- Develop reports on regulatory updates for business leaders that materially impact the Company’s interests and initiatives.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with members of local, state, and federal government entities and agencies.
- Represent the Company in key trade associations and industry committees, seeking leadership roles.
- Collaborate with industry advocates to identify common interests that drive Company initiatives.
- Serve as a Company representative before government committees in support of the Company and/or industry.
- Support or introduce legislative and public policy changes that will benefit the Company’s business interests and operations.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate (.) with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Public Relations, or related field is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience practicing in areas such as Litigation, Municipal Law, Public Policy, or related fields.
- Excellent organizational and computer skills, with great attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage a large and diverse workload.
- Outstanding analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with significant experience reporting to leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading and/or motivating cross-functional teams, and proficiency with Microsoft suite of tools.
- Domestic travel up to 20% is required.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with litigation management tools (., Legal Tracker, BrightFlag) and regulatory tracking tools (., FiscalNote, Quorum) is preferred.
Salary Information:
- The salary range for this position is $98,900 - $125,600. The specific salary offered may be influenced by various factors including the candidate’s experience, education, and work location.
- Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401k.
