Job Title: Assistant United States Attorney (Criminal)

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) positions are located within the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Southern District of Florida (SDFL), one of the largest USAOs in the nation. The AUSA will be responsible for prosecuting a wide range of criminal cases, representing the United States in matters concerning violations of federal laws. This includes cases related to cartels and transnational criminal organizations, violent crime and firearms violations, illegal immigration, international narcotics, money laundering, corporate fraud, cybercrime, counterterrorism, counterintelligence, human trafficking, public corruption, and civil rights. AUSAs will be part of a dedicated team working to enforce federal criminal laws that protect life, liberty, and property within the Southern District of Florida. The role includes frequent courtroom appearances and requires the ability to handle a fast-paced and challenging caseload. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.

Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctor (.) degree and be an active member of the bar in any . jurisdiction. A minimum of one year of . legal or relevant experience is required, with a preference for candidates possessing at least three years of such experience. Candidates should have strong academic credentials, superior oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment with minimal guidance.

Salary Information:
The salary for the Assistant United States Attorney position is administratively determined based on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $120,086 to $195,100, which includes a locality pay adjustment of %. The Department of Justice offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, telework options, life insurance, health benefits, and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Relocation expenses are not authorized.

Additional Details:
The positions are located in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Fort Pierce, Florida. All initial attorney appointments to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month temporary basis, pending favorable adjudication of a background investigation. The AUSA must reside in the district to which they are appointed or within 25 miles thereof. Security requirements include fingerprinting, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Applicants must be United States citizens or nationals and comply with the Selective Service registration requirements if applicable. The position may require occasional travel within and outside the district.
