A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Midlevel Commercial Litigation Associate to join its growing team in Portland, OR. This position is ideal for a lawyer with 3-5 years of litigation experience who is ready to take on complex commercial disputes and manage cases independently. Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex commercial litigation matters, from initiation through resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Develop and implement strategic case plans in collaboration with team members.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including depositions and witness interviews.
  • Prepare and argue motions and briefs in both state and federal courts.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to keep them informed of case progress and developments.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, always aiming for the most favorable outcomes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, case law, and best practices in litigation.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including client presentations and networking events.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar in good standing (California or Washington bar membership is a plus).
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial litigation.
  • Strong skills in litigation, including drafting legal documents and representing clients in court.
  • Ability to manage cases independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with an aptitude for prioritizing multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strategic decision-making and sound judgment in complex legal matters.
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery and litigation support tools is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of practice (California and Washington bar admissions are a plus).

  • Legal research and analysis.
